Resumo

Os agonistas do receptor do peptídeo semelhante ao glucagon-1 (GLP-1) representam uma abordagem terapêutica inovadora para o manejo do diabetes mellitus tipo 2 (DM2) e outras doenças metabólicas, uma vez que atuam estimulando a secreção de insulina de maneira glicose-dependente. A partir do estudo de seu mecanismo de ação foi possível evidenciar benefícios em diferentes sistemas como endócrino, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular e renal. Dessa maneira, o presente estudo abordou os efeitos terapêuticos dos agonistas do receptor do GLP-1, com foco nos sistemas acima mencionados, com o propósito de sintetizar os principais resultados sobre o controle glicêmico e a prevenção de comorbidades para pacientes com DM2.
